A Mansfield construction professional has been recognised in a national awards scheme celebrating standards in housebuilding.
Tim Pritchard, 46, who lives in Mansfield, was named among the winners of the National House Building Council’s 2026 Pride in the Job Quality Awards.
He manages construction at the Brierley View development in Sutton-in-Ashfield, which is being built under Bellway’s Ashberry Homes brand.
Neighbouring site manager Gary Archer, who oversees the Ashlands development off Ashland Road West, also received an award.
The annual scheme assesses thousands of site managers across the UK on areas including workmanship, leadership, technical knowledge, health and safety, attention to detail and the day-to-day management of construction sites.
Only 449 managers were selected from more than 7,500 inspected by the NHBC this year.
Tim has worked in construction throughout his career and joined Bellway four years ago.
He said: “It feels good to win. I’ve been pushing hard for this as it’s been a real goal for me in my career, and it’s great to realise that goal at last.
“We’ve built a great team at this site. It’s a priority for us to train and educate the newer builders and share our knowledge so we can keep improving.”
He said the Sutton-in-Ashfield site had presented challenges because of its hillside location and the amount of groundwater found during construction.
“This site has thrown up a few challenges, but the team have pulled together,” he said.
“I take a lot of pride in working well, keeping the site tidy and maintaining a high standard of presentation. When customers move in, you can be proud of the work you’ve done to create their new home.”
Gary, 59, who lives in Nottingham, began his career as an apprentice carpenter after leaving school at 16. This is his tenth Pride in the Job award.
He said: “I still get the same buzz from winning this. It’s an accolade, it’s like the Oscars for site managers.
“I push for quality homes and try to make sure that every house I build is one I would be happy to live in.”
The two managers will now progress to the next stage of the competition, with the Seal of Excellence and Regional Award winners due to be announced in the autumn.
Tom Nicklin, head of construction for Bellway East Midlands, said both managers had demonstrated the standards required by NHBC judges while encouraging high standards across their site teams.
